Being 'stranded' in England due to the closure of Trinidad borders Yvonne and I became friends in the 'autumn' of our lives through a mutual friend of ours-Betty. Being Trinidadians in a foreign country we quickly bounded. Frequent video calls with Yvonne during that time when the world was in 'turmoil' always left me feeling uplifted. Her strong faith in God was apparent and so was her positive outlook about life. Yvonne always had a radiant smile whenever we spoke and did not 'fuss' about anything. We both were looking forward to travelling together back to our homeland. However, that was not God's plan for Yvonne. When it became apparent that Yvonne may not be able to make the journey back to her beloved homeland she gave me her blessings with that big smile on her face. It was sad making the journey without her. For the short time that we knew each other it was truly a blessing . Yvonne often expressed how blessed she was as she had lived her '3 score and 10' . Yvonne was prepared. Condolences to her much loved family and friends. It was truly a pleasure knowing her notwithstanding it was just for a short time. May her wonderful soul rest in peace.

A tribute from her siblings Yvonne our sister was the sixth of nine children of our parents Charles an Minna Gordon: Namely Elliot, Gwendolyn, Lucille, Jocelyn (deceased), Russell (deceased) YVONNE, Patricia, Myrna and Eustace (deceased) Yvonne spent her formative years with our Grandfather and Aunty Princess Walker nee Lawrence (deceased) who adopted her. Our Aunt was a teacher an relocated to different villages for her job. Therefore Yvonne attended Charlotteville Primary school, Mt St George Methodist School and Scarborough Methodist school then Bishops High School. After finishing High School she came to live with her siblings. We had now relocated and lived in Scarborough. Living with us she enjoyed her elder sisters’ company going to parties and liming and sharing the household chores There was always laughter in the house she always had the biggest laugh. Having finished high school her first job was in the Tobago Treasury working as a cashier. This where she met her husband Purcell Lewis (deceased) Myrna as the youngest sister was attending Roxborough Secondary School at the time. Going home from school, when the bus got to Belle Garden he (Purcell) would be there at the bus stop and he would say to me 'Tell your sister GOOD EVENING for me. After I left Roxborough Secondary school the friendship blossomed and they eventually got married. Yvonne and family moved to Trinidad I eventually joined them and looked after the girls. Over the years it has been a lot of family vacations abroad and also lots of family gatherings. Yvonne liked to entertain everyone. We were always welcomed into her home and we always kept close as a family. These times were always memorable as they were filled with laughter. We could always rely on her for her love and support

Yvonne was a strong lay leader at St Aidan's church where I worship. In addition to supporting clergy at service she led a bible study group, played a major role in the intercessory prayer team and was one of the volunteer Religious Instruction (RI) teachers at a nearby secondary school. She always had a warm friendly greeting for everyone and was extremely supportive - she shared several ideas with me when I also started teaching RI. Sometimes, she would encourage our congregation in Praise and Worship on a Sunday morning before service. Of these times, my favourite hymn was "Come ye that love the Lord". Each time I sing this hymn, I will recall her memory. Yvonne clearly loved the Lord. Her passing has reminded us that we all will face him someday. May he provide comfort to her family and friends in their sorrow, may the angels lead Yvonne into paradise, may she rest in eternal peace.

Yvonne Minora Lewis came from a well-known family. She was a great woman. I need to say that there has been a life-long close and warm relationship between the Lewis and Daniel families. In fact, my wife Eurilda and Yvonne were students of Bishop’s High School, Tobago, at the same time and their relationship endured. My first interaction with Yvonne was when she came to work at the Sub-Treasury, Scarborough, and was assigned to the position of Cashier. As Officer-in-Charge of the Unit, I supervised her work. Yvonne dealt with members of the public professionally, was helpful, courteous, responsible and very competent in her work. Yvonne soon gave birth to her first baby girl, Laurencia, and I was chosen as the Godfather. While the Lewis and Daniel families were in the UK, the Daniels welcomed a baby girl and we repaid Yvonne the compliments by asking Yvonne to be the Godmother. We last met Yvonne in person at the Annual Anglican Renewal Service. We were impressed when Yvonne explained portions of the Scripture with great zeal that indeed we thought she really justified her position as a Lay Reader in the Church. Yvonne gave much attention to the discipline, education and upbringing of her children who did not disappoint in terms of their academic performance and balanced personalities. Our dear Yvonne was intelligent, confident, straight forward, helpful, compassionate and above all was God-fearing. We pray that Almighty God would have mercy on her soul. Thinking of Mrs. Lewis automatically brings a smile to my lips and a warm feeling to my heart. She always greeted me with a smile. I fondly remember her as being humble, loving, generous and so encouraging. When my Aunty Althea was sick in 2019 and then unfortunately passed away, Mrs.Yvonne, was a tremendous support and anchor throughout the entire ordeal. It was a great privilege of having known her. I take this opportunity to extend my love and deepest condolences to all her family and friends. A scripture I love is found at. 2Thessalonians 2:16-17 "Moreover, may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and Jehovah God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, 17 comfort your hearts and make you firm in every good deed and word". Mrs Lewis was many things. She was a calming force, a quiet unassuming spirit, a strong vibrant person, a Godly regal woman. She gave comfort to me and my mother in our most troubling times. She will be missed greatly. Rest in the arms of our Lord Jesus. Love from Venicia
